I homeschool my son and we blew through the third grade books (since I forgot to buy the text) so I moved to this book. I really like that there are such a variety of stories to choose from. I'm able to plan ahead because I know which ones he'll have some trouble with. I also like that there's a mix of subject matter so we can learn some science and social studies as well. I would suggest using at least two of the three workbooks if you can't get all three. There's a practice workbook, Word Study and Spelling Practice workbook and Grammar and Writing workbook. We use the last two and it's really worked. We do a story each week (give or take a day or two if he's really getting the material). So glad this is available on Amazon.Product details

One of the better reading texts we have used. Good variety of stories- fiction and nonfiction
I love Scott Foresman books! They are usually old textbooks from other school systems. I use the stories in there to aid my kids getting their daily reading in. At the end of stories, there are reading comprehension questions.
This book has lots of interesting stories. I am using this book as a part of my homeschool curriculum. If you are going to use it as part of your homeschool curriculum, make sure you get the practice book. There are several students books associated with this reading book. To ensure that you are receive the correct one..... google search the scott foreman reading street website... then purchase your book from ...because it will be cheaper.....
