In a recent interview with the "Washington Blade", Ray Boltz, widely known in Christian music circles for many years announced that he has divorced his wife of 33 years and is now living as a homosexual man.
Over the course of the interview, his statements and responses make it quite clear that he has made a decision to live his life worshiping a Jesus of his own making - one that suits his own selfish desires. This form of idolatry is beyond common in the world today, and we will see more and more of it as the eventual end of all things draws closer.
Christians should hold Boltz in prayer in the months ahead, and most definitely they should hold up his (now ex) wife and children in prayer. Whether or not he will ever return to the true faith, or whether he will eventually turn to the true Christ for the first time for actual salvation, is something that only the Father knows.
What should be more concerning to Christians across the world though, is that in that same article, the Blade quoted the Gospel Music Association (the group that gives out the Dove Awards in Christian music) as saying this regarding Boltz's profession of homosexuality:
"We do not comment on the lifestyle choices of people in our community."
"Lifestyle choices"??? So, what the GMA is really saying here is that they endorse and embrace people who they are well aware are living a life that is completely inconsistent with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The leadership of the Christian community needs to investigate strongly all positions held by the GMA, and to report what they find to the Christian world at large. If the GMA does not itself hold to the standards of the Bible when deciding who to promote, who to reward, etc...how on earth can Christians, Christian retailers, and Christian radio stations be expected to endorse the GMA, the Dove Awards, and the artists who win them?
Quite possibly, it is time that the GMA was disregarded by Christians when looking for new entertainment; and true Christian artists should have no truck with such false panderers either. Given his stature in the Christian Community, and the record-holding number of Doves he has won over the years, Steven Curtis Chapman could alone propel Christians to rebuke and revoke the GMA.
